Clare goal machine Shane O'Donnell says no-one will hold Podge Collins' decision to focus on football against him.

Banner County hurling has been rocked by the news that Podge and his brother Sean will channel all their energies into football in 2015 but O'Donnell wishes his team-mate well.

"The two of them are excellent hurlers and missing hurlers of the quality of Podge ... you'd be hoping they'd play," last year's replayed All-Ireland hurling final hero told the Irish Daily Star.

"He's adamant it's a fantastic set-up in the football and since their father is involved ...

"It's time to give the football all the attention is deserves and he gets to decide.

"No-one is going to hold it against him and obviously it's his decision.

"Podge and Sean both love football and they've been playing at an extremely high standard for the club so why wouldn't they want to play football as well?"

O'Donnell ruled out the possibility of him following in the Collins brothers' footsteps.

"I am not very good at football.

"I'm more just a bit of athleticism and that's it really. I don't really offer anything else. I wouldn't be a major threat. You won't see any decision being made."
