Have Wexford missed the boat? That's the question on most lips as Davy Fitzgerald and his All-Ireland champions make the trip to Wexford Park today.

Neutrals will be hoping that the replay will measure up favourably to last weekend's drawn encounter in terms of drama and excitement.

Liam Dunne's underdogs took the fight to their more illustrious opponents and had the Banner County against the ropes, leading 2-7 to 0-3 after 17 minutes, but, ultimately, failed to deliver to the knock-out punch.

But there's a feel-good factor about Wexford hurling at the moment after their U-21s retained their Leinster title mid-week at the expense of Dublin and they will relish another shot at the Banner.

Davy Fitz, meanwhile, cut a relieved figure at the final whistle of regulation time last week and he will demand a massive improvement from his charges.

"We are going into the lion's den and I can't wait. It's our turn now."

Verdict - Clare.
