Munster club SFC: Holders dethroned by Kilmurry

November 09, 2009
Clare's Kilmurry-Ibrickane avenged last year's final defeat to Dromcollogher-Broadford when they had six points to spare over the Limerick champions in yesterday's Munster club football quarter-final at Quilty. Kilmurry-Ibrickane..0-11 Drom-Broadford0-5 The home side laid the foundations for their victory in the opening 30 minutes when they made the most of advantage to lead by 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time. Drom-Broadford's task was not made any easier when they lost Seanie Buckley and Jason Stokes to injury. With Garrett Noonan leading their fightback, the holders got to within three points - 0-7 to 0-4 - of the Clare champions after 46 minutes. But the momentum swung back in favour of Kilmurry when Drom' were reduced to 14 players following Michael O'Sullivan dismissal on a second yellow card. Drom' could only manage one further point from a Michael Reidy free as Kilmurry set up a semi-final date with Waterford kingpins Stradbally.
