Dissapointing to lose to Monaghan again last Saturday. The ten minutes before half time when Cavan scored 3 unanswered points in a row was some of the best hurling ever seen by a Cavan team. If they can perform like that for 30-40 minutes of a game then the results will come. Well done to all the players for all their efforts since last November. Senior Club Championship begins in August and senior league after that.

DONAL KEOGAN should be appointed cavan senior hurling manager as soon as possible, both team & manager would be well suited!!

Heard Cavan were very unlucky in the hurling. Heard they only lost it cause they had a player sent off.

Hey guys, I heard that Ballymachugh won by a point yesterday. This sets them up against Mullahoran St. Josephs in the final. Anyone know when the final is on, I originally heard that it was to be on Saturday evening, but that is in doubt due to a number of players being on Shinty trials on Saturday morning. Breffni park is not available on Sunday due to three football games being on. Anyone any the wiser on this.

Senior Hurling final, Ballymachugh v Mullahoran will be played on Saturday next 27th September at 7.30 in Breffni Park. Ballymachugh put in a spirited display to beat Woodford Gaels by a point in Ballyconnell on Sunday.

mullahoran won the hurling very easily on a scoreline of 4-15 to 0-2. those to play well were dominic crudden(man of the match), dermot sheridan, andrew nelligan, sean og brady & phillip brady. playing the derry champions on sunday next in derry. best of luck.

reply to the chosen.hurl, mullahoran can only beat what's put in front of us. we are the standard bearers and it's up to the other clubs to rise to that level. as for completing in monaghan, it was a good competition for us but the traveling was always a problem, also we always had problems fielding full strengh teams in the middle of week with college. we complete in the ulster league which is a better competition.

Well, Mullahoran did play in Monaghan a few years ago. The Monaghan county board would not let them play in the championship, but they played in the league for a few seasons. Mullahoran even got to the league final in 2003 I think, and were narrowly beaten by 'Blaney (again i'm not sure about this). Afdter that when the board realised how they were coming on, and from the other clubs complaining about travel down to Mullahoran, they weren't let back in again. Mullahoran would be on a par with the best in Monaghan, they beat Clontibret in 2003 after they won the Monaghan championship, and beat Carrickmacross in last years Ulster league. It would not happen as there are teams in Cavan now, albeit only three, can't see it happening in the near future.

youre right, mullahoran were narrowly beaten in a monaghan league final a few years back. The problem with playing in Monaghan was that it was hard to get players to travel to Monaghan every 2nd week and Monaghan players didnt like the long trip down. It'd probably make more sense for Mullahoran to compete in the Longford or Westmeath leagues, I think Ballymachugh were competing in Westmeath this year.

Yeah, I think Ballymachugh were in the Westmeath Junior league. To be honest though, these days with the Ulster league and the few games we get in Cavan, it is not too bad. A few years ago all we got was the Ulster first round game and that was it for the year. Monaghan will probably not take us in now as we do play at least 5 or 6 games in the Ulster league, they would say we get experience enough here. Its all swings and roundabouts.

So Na Magha (Derry) are up next for Mullahoran in the Ulster championship. They got beaten in the semi-finals of the Ulster league Division 4 semi-final by Lisbellaw (who beat Mullahoran in the quarters). Two very similar teams by my reckoning, should be a good game. Game is in Ballinascreen at 3.30 on Sunday. Any supporters travelling....

the dreadnoghts won in the first round of the ulster club hurling championship beating na magha of derry by a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-8 after being 6 pts down at half time. men that played well were edward dalton, ronan o'hagan, dermot sheridan, hugh briody and paul sheridan. but phil brady was brilliant. next up next sunday is lisbellaw of fermanagh. bring it on.

Well done to Mullahoran. Things are looking up for Cavan Hurling. With the bulk of the senior county panel provided by Mullahoran aided by Woodford and Ballymachugh and the reemergance of Bailieborough in 09 Cavan hurling has a lot to look forward to. The new Lory Meagher Cup with an apperance at Croke Park is a distinct possibility. Our under 16 squad had 2 matches in Croke Park Sunday. There are 31 members on this panel, the largest ever at this age group.

Mullahoran won in Ulster Club on Sunday last. Next up is Lisbellaw of Fermanagh in the semi-final this Sunday in Ballybay at 3.30. Good luck to all involved.
