Should the GAA prove meal for country fans

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Should the GAA pay for a meal for country fans that travel from the country to Croke park?.
I say that the GAA could organise a system that local food halls could serve up a meal to GAA fans at a modest price.
It could be included in the Ticket price and one would be dining along with other GAA people.
For a suggestion church halls close to GAA HQ could be used and one could avail of Sunday Service at the same time.
Should a family decide to take eatables with them I am sure that all could be accommodated.
What do you think.

Good idea and they should organise a mini bus to go around and pick everyone up and then leave them home afterwards and throw in a couple of free drinks at the bar as well.

A fantastic idea, the logistics of it would be very difficult to manage though. 80,000 + people couldnt fit in anywhere

Perhaps you should write to them Tom. Also ask them about putting us up in their hotel as well, after all it would only be fair.!

Tom my man - I am disappointed by your countymen not trying to ATTACH themselves to you. "Forgive them for they know not what they do" and all that. Notwithstanding their lethargy, although I felt some of them were gently trying to ATTACK/tease you, you have one great idea here. I'm sure you have developed the train of thought out here - it's no good running to Minister Smith and seeking a sort of "Disadvantaged Area" subsidy scheme.
This plan will have to be means tested of course - medical card holders definitely eligible-formers players at any club level and their families (extended ) included etc..Now this grand scheme should be brought to a meeting of the Cross Border bodies committee to embrace our impoverished brethern in Tyrone most urgently
Sorry folks I'm corpsing........

It was a point that I was making.
Now with the broad/main roads so busy it is impossible to have your cup of tea along the side of the road in any comfort as one goes up to Dublin.
Perhaps it could be taken on board when country teams are playing in Croke park in future.

You should get the bus Tom, you'll be able to have your Tea and Sambo in peace and you will be doing your bit for the environment as well. And just wondering how many Churches in Dublin have halls and how would you propose to fit the 80,000 people into them? I think you are starting too big, you should get your hero DK to give free drinks to everyone who goes to a club game in Cavan as a pilot & if that works I'll back you 100% in your global domination push...

Wishfulthinking now hold on, now all 80,000 are from the country.
if it was so lockhard and company would have to park the cars down to the county line at white gate.
I am only talking about contry people that may have to milk and do farming chores prior to leaving Cavan to go to Dublin.
The time that it takes to get a shop or an eatery to dine in can take a long time.
Hence the church hall idea.

but sure Cavan were guaranteed never to get to Croker once your hero had the reins. So you are saying that people from Kerry & Tyrone don't milk cows?

to be honest tomsmith if you could get your hero DK to give free drinks in his niteclub, I'd be more than happy, nevermind free drinks at matches!

With all the Cavan men that ave Pub/eating houses in Dublin would it be possible that someone could organise a meal and service for the brethren on match days

A Cavan man has undertaken to provide a meal for travelling fans at an eatery in the North side of the city on All Ireland day for a modest fee.
The menu is being drawn up and he wonders will are person require Boxty and butter.
I understan d that he is getting a few gausins to work a small fee for the day.
