Comar and Ballinagh: A winning combination

April 01, 2008
Undoubtedly, 2007 will live long in the memories of all involved with Ballinagh GAA club as the Cavan intermediate champions added the provincial title to their list of honours. The club is sponsored by Comar Properties Ltd, which is owned by Sean and Collette Bogue, who are life long supporters and they were delighted to have seen the intermediate team be so successful last year. And even though their quest for All-Ireland glory was halted at the penultimate stage by Dublin outfit Fingal Ravens, the whole county was proud of their performances throughout the campaign. "For the past three years, we have been proud to be sponsors of Ballinagh GFC. When the company first got involved in the sponsorship of the team in 2006, the senior team was knocking on the door of intermediate championship success and were narrowly defeated in the intermediate final," said Sean. "However, they turned their fortunes around by going on to win the division one senior league against the odds that year. This turnaround paved the way for the current success being enjoyed by the club. "It is a testament to the determination and tenacity of all the lads in the squad, their backroom staff and management, that they have in 2007, come back and won the intermediate championship and the junior C championship." Sean admitted that winning the provincial title for the first time in the club's history was a monumental achievement for this small rural club. "The historical achievement of winning the Ulster intermediate club final in November 2007 has followed and has made these lads legends within the club. "As a local building company, Comar Properties Ltd are delighted to have the honour of supporting the historic achievements of this team and are thoroughly enjoying the association with the club and the lift it has given the entire local community. Continued success is wished to the club during the coming year," he added. Ballinagh's success in the intermediate championship last year was their third in the grade and even though it was a marvellous achievement to make a swift return to the senior ranks, the year just got better for the Cavan outfit. The Ulster club campaign saw Ballinagh reached the provincial decider where they would meet Antrim champions Dunloy in the final and all nerves were soon put to one side as a blistering start paved the way for victory. And the Cavan champions were good value for their success after a cracking decider with Dunloy played before some 1,200 spectators which was competitive and interesting right to the final whistle. In the end, there was great jubilation amongst the Ballinagh supporters as their team-captain, Padraic O'Reilly lifted the Patrick McCully Cup in a season in which Bernard Morris's charges really come good, and have been great ambassadors for Cavan club football on the provincial scene. The All-Ireland semi final was a close encounter and one that could have went either way, but at the end of the day, it was just beyond Ballinagh as their players put in a supreme effort only to be narrowly defeated by Fingal Ravens. However, all involved could look back on the year with a sense of pride and be pleased with their magnificent achievement of winning the Ulster club intermediate football final. In June, 2007 Comar Properties launched two developments on the outskirts of Cavan town, close to Ballinagh and Sales and Marketing manager Alan McGlynn and auctioneer Martin Short spoke to the Cavan Yearbook about how the developments would enhance the area. The company has developed into a highly successful building and property development business undertaking projects within the Cavan area. Already there has been almost 100 homes sold in Ashbrook, while the developments in the Glens and Creighan Manor are well underway. "Comar Properties Ltd are delighted to take these two new developments to the market. The homes in the in the 'Glens' and 'Creighan Manor' are traditional built concrete homes," said Alan. "Comar Properties aim as builders and developers has always been to create high quality buildings, and to bring an excellent product to the market. This has been achieved by developing and working with a highly skilled and reputable team of architects, engineers, auctioneering and legal personnel." Creighan Manor is located on the Ballinagh/Athlone road just beside Cavan is a beautiful new development of contemporary style townhouses, detached and semi detached homes set on an elevated site with views over the countryside and town. The Glens is a limited development of 30 apartments located right beside Creighan Manor and has a unique riverside setting. Residence who purchase in the both developments have the convenience of a supermarket, shop, pub, restaurant and crèche on site, and just a stroll away are all the amenities of Cavan town centre. "These developments are ideally located as when the M3 motorway is complete, the commute to Dublin will be greatly reduced, while the competitive prices of the homes are rivalled by few," added Alan. Martin Short added: "You need to drive through Cavan to appreciate the host of natural beauty spots that are contained in this county. You read about the Seven Wonders of the World and some people are lucky enough to visit one of them in their lifetime, but Cavan has to have the top Seven Wonders of the World, for example the lakes, rivers, streams and babbling books in every town land in the county. "Creighan Manor is located beside the town, yet has the country feel about it with its feature water fall tucked neatly and crafted gently into the landscape at the magnificent entrance giving an ambience to the whole development. Privacy in the modern times, where people are living in the fast lane from when they get up in the morning is becoming a higher priority with families and the Creighan Manor homes offer total privacy from roads, traffic, noise, hustle and bustle as careful consideration was given to planning this elevated site, a hidden gem, shielded from the 24/7 stresses of development gridlock which is on offer in most towns today. "On arrival at the homes, you will be pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and the time given to researching the architectural design and at the same time maximising the living space to ensure every morsel of space is usable."
