Eire Og Celtics - Minor Championship Final
Eire Og Celtics, the Drumgoon parish football amalgamation, continued their impressive form in their debut season to account for a talented Kingscourt Stars team in the semi-final of the Minor Championship on Wednesday 11th August at Balieboro.
Under guidance from team mentors Mike Hannon. Patrick Lynch and Martin Clerkin, the squad navigated their way past the Kingscourt squad on a score-line of 2:11 to 3:04, to book a place in the Championship Final at the first time of asking.
The Minor Championship Final is scheduled for Kingspan Breffni Park on Wednesday 24th August and represents a re-match of the League Final, where Drumgoon Eire Og played the three-team amalgamation, Blackwater Gaels in a highly entertaining encounter.
The Eire Og Celtics semi-final team was: Ryan Carroll, Ryan Craddock, Tommy Mc Kitterick, Mark Murray, Dominic Donegan, Francis Mc Cabe, Martin Fitzpatrick, Barry Cooney, Ronan Mc Donald, Conor Moynagh, Keith Hessin, Enda Hessin, Ian Craddock, Patrick Smith, John Carney, Tom Hayes, Joseph Kelly, Declan Smith, James Kelly
All Ireland Camogie Final Replay
Best wishes go to the Cavan Camogie squad and to the Drumgoon Eire Og trio of Carmel McBride, Caroline Shalvey and Margaret McCabe who will contest the All Ireland Camogie Final Replay against Monaghan on 22nd August following a highly competitive draw at the first time of asking.
Well done and continued good luck to Carmel, Caroline and Margaret in the All Ireland Camogie Final Replay
Drumgoon Senior League Semi-Final
The Drumgoon Senior team bowed out of the League Competition at the semi-final stage on Sunday last against Drumlane in an exciting encounter played in Ballyconnell, on a scoreline of 2:08 to 0:10.
With injury and unavailability forcing five changes to Tony Brady's selection compared with last weeks championship outing against Ballyhaise, this was always going to be a tough ask, but the 'new-look' starting team performed well and contested the encounter to the final whistle, creating further opportunities for the Management Team to consider before the Championship Quarter final encounter against Knockbride.
Congratulations to neighbours Knockbride, who overcame Ballyhaise in their league semi-final and now face Drumlane in the Final later in the year.
Eire Og Abroad
Our congratulations are sent overseas to former Drumgoon Ladies Football captain, Blathnaid Farrell, who is part of the Fulham Irish Ladies GAA team that captured the London County Football title last week-end. Blathnaid previously captained the Drumgoon Ladies team to Championship and League success in Cavan.
