Ramor Utd Club Notes

March 18, 2010
Medal Presentation Social;
A very enjoyable night was had by all in the Riverfront Hotel on Friday night last when the Ramor-Munterconnaught U-21 Team were presented with their Division 1 Championship medals. World Champion handballer Paul Brady was the guest of honour on the night, and we must extend our congratulations to Paul on his excellent victory on Saturday in the Senior Quarter Final. Thanks to Martin Tynan who did a superb job as MC for the night, and kept everyone entertained! There was a poignant moment as Martin read out a poem he had written specially for Christopher Sheils. Christopher's sister Amanda collected his medal. Christopher was an integral part of the squad, having taken part in challenge matches and training prior to his untimely death. Joint captains Stephen Monaghan and Stephen Sheridan dedicated the victory to the memory of Christopher. Thanks to Jimmy and Antoinette Murray and staff for the wonderful food and venue, they really pulled out all the stops to make sure an enjoyable night was had by all. Thanks to all who came and supported the night, and the team. Well done, yet again, to the hard working Social Committee. For anyone who would like photos of the night, you can call into Mc Crystals Pharmacy where you can order your copies.
Well done also to all those club members who had the stamina to stay on for the dancing at Club V,there were some great movers and shakers on the dance floor late into the night!!
Ramor Minors;
The Minors had no League fixture this weekend. They play Gowna on St. Patrick's Day at 12 noon. Please turn out to support.
Well done to Jack Brady and Kevin Mulvanny who are on the Cavan Minor Panel. Cavan had a good win over Meath on Saturday last in the first round of the Ulster League. Jack Brady had the added honour of captaining the side on the day. Well done to all involved.

Christopher Sheils Memorial Tournament;
The Finals of the Christopher Sheils Tournament took place on Saturday morning last in fine weather conditions in front of a large crowd. Ramor's U-16's gave a good account of themselves, winning a game, losing a game and finally being beaten. Despite not reaching the final, the lads played some great football and provided great enjoyment for those watching. Congratulations to St. Finbarrs, the eventual winners. They received a magnificent cup in honour of the memory of Christopher. The Tournament was very well organised and is a credit to those involved.
