Cootehill Celtic Club Notes

March 16, 2010
Seniors
The Seniors played Crosserlough in a challenge match at the weekend in preparation for the start of the league which kicks off in 3 weeks. There are plenty of cobwebs to dust off yet so training will continue at 8 pm on Tuesdays, 8.30 pm on Fridays and noon on Sunday.

Membership
This year's membership is now due. Adult membership is priced at € 25, Students at € 10, Juveniles at € 5 and a family membership costs € 60. Membership can be paid to our joint registrars Jimmy McBride or Kieran McCarville or to any member of the committee. Hopefully membership will be available through the club website in the next few weeks but until then you will just have to do it the old fashion way - in person!

Cavan Seniors
Congratulations to John and the rest of the Cavan Seniors who had a great 5 point win over Wexford in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday night last. John played the whole game in the half back line in an impressive team display from the Breffnimen. They now take on Sligo this Sunday 21st at 2.30 pm in Markievicz Park, Sligo. Best of luck lads!

Under 16s
The Celts' U16 team took part in the finals of the Christopher Sheils Memorial Tournament last Saturday on the new 3G pitch in Kingspan Breffni Park. Two late withdrawals meant the boys only travelled with 8 players, leaving just one sub for the three 7-a-side games. Nevertheless the lads played some great football on the day, scoring 8 goals and 11 points, doing themselves and the club proud. A very strong Shercock team beat them in the first game and Cootehill showed great improvement but were desperately unlucky to go down by a single goal to St. Joseph's, a team which had beaten them comprehensively during the last day of the competition. A deserved win over Lavey in the final game left the boys going home on a positive note. Congratulations to all involved in organising this tournament especially those in the Coaching and Games Development Committee, who made the whole competition such a success and a great tribute to the life of the late Christy Sheils. Team: Darragh McCarney, Fintan Roche, Tom Hayes, Aaron Cosgrove, Ryan O'Reilly, Fiachra Hughes, Joseph Freeman and John Carney (Captain).
Training continues every Tuesday and Friday at 7 pm and please note there will be a challenge game this Sunday - more details at training.

U10s and 8s
Training for Under 8 and Under 10s continues in St. Michael's Hall, Cootehill every Saturday morning at 10.30 pm. Everybody welcome - especially newcomers!

Under 14
The Under 14s had an impressive win over Shercock in a challenge match on Sunday morning. Keep up the good work! Training continues every Thursday at 6.30 in Hugh O'Reilly Park.
