NFL 3: Louth weather early Breffni storm
March 07, 2010

Louth's Brian White
Louth 0-13
Cavan 1-6
Louth weathered Cavan's early storm to pick up their second pair of points in Division Three yesterday afternoon at Drogheda.
Tommy Carr's team had started the match in the best possible fashion when livewire corner-forward Cian Mackey crashed the ball into the Louth net after just four minutes and David Givney fisted over moments later to put the hosts under some early pressure.
However, Cavan wouldn't score again until the 35th minute and in that time it was Louth who took control as two points from the deadly Brian White were backed up by three frees from Adrian Reid which helped send the Wee County in at the break with a 0-8 to 1-2 advantage.
Givney and Michael Brennan had squandered goal chances in the first-half for the Breffni men which could well have proved decisive, as Raymond Galligan done likewise in the opening stages of the second-half shortly before his withdrawal.
Aaron Hoey and White extended Peter Fitzpatrick's team's lead through placed balls after that, with the only score from play in the half coming from Mackey 18 minutes in and despite his team pressing in the last ten minutes, Louth had enough to see out the victory comfortably in the end.
