Cavan Ladies V Fermanagh Ladies   Cavan 0-12 Fermanagh 2-06 The spoils were shared in this highly entertaining first round All Ireland Intermediate Championship game, the game was played out in very warm and energy sapping weather. The supporters that turned up to cheer on both sides viewed a game that did great credit to the ladies game. Cavan entered the game as hot favourites after enjoying a very successful league campaign, reaching the quarter final stages whilst Fermanagh were looking for a form of redemption after a poor league run which had seen them relegated to Division 3. The game started at a phonetic and frantic pace which saw the first 7 minutes scoreless as both defences proved very hard to unhinge. Fermanagh were to lose Ashling Moane with an ankle injury as early as the 3rd minute with Imelda Mc Govern coming on to replace her. Fermanagh were to strike first through Caroline Little from a 21 metre free and again Caroline was to score in the 10th minute after a brilliant solo run which started 30 metres from her own goal and ended with a point from inside Cavanís 21 metre line. Kyla Mc Manus was having a mighty start to the game in at Full Back cutting out ball after ball to stop the Cavan attacks dead in their tracks. Cavan were to strike back with Renee Murphy pointing in the 11th minute of the first half from a 14 metre free . In the 14th minute Fermanaghís Caroline Little struck over a free kick from the Cavan 45 metre line for a monster score. Shauna Hamilton added another point from play for Fermanagh in the 16th minute before Cavan reduced the deficit through points from S.Cassidy 18th minute, Brid Boylan 19th minute and A.Doonan in the 22nd minute. Cavan enjoyed a period of dominance from the 27th to 32nd minute with 3 points without reply from the boots of Sharon Cassidy(27th minute), Grainne Smith(31st minute) and Rachel Jordan(32nd minute) before Fermanagh struck for a goal through Ashling Mc Caughey after another solo run from Caroline Little from inside her own 30 metre line into Cavans 21 metre area.   Half Time Cavan 0-7 Fermanagh   The second half resumed with Cavan putting constant pressure on the Fermanagh rear guard and goal. Cavan took the lead in the 4th with a point and extended the lead farther in the 7th minute with another point. Fermanagh goalkeeper, Donna Gilroy saved point blank literally at the feet off Brid Boylan, keeping her team in the game.Ashling Moane was reintroduced in the 7th minute having recovered from her knock in the 1st half. The teams were to exchange points in the 16th(Doonan) and 17th minutes(C.Little) to leave the score Cavan 0-10 and Fermanagh 1-05.The next few minutes saw a number of substitutions the most notable being the introduction of Bronagh Sheridan for Cavan and making her Inter County debut for Fermanagh, Anita Newell. Caroline Little scored a 35 metre free for Fermanagh in the 24th minute and in the 26th minute, Sheridan pointed for Cavan but straight from the kick out the ball went to Ashling Moane in midfield who fed Sharon Little 40 metres from goal, Sharon slipped the ball inside to Shauna Hamilton who bore down on goal and coolly slipped the ball under the Cavan Keeper for a goal and the lead for Fermanagh. However Bronagh Sheridan was to have the final say with the equalising score from a 21 metre free in the dying seconds of the game to deny Fermanagh at the death.   There were to many standout performances to mention or single out one or two players so everyone of the girls get a star rating.   The loyal Fermanagh followers who made the journey to Breffni Park can look back on the game with the satisfaction that there is more to come from this youthful team who play their football with of skill and passion and a pride in representing their county/ The management and players would like to thank Mr Joe Mc Gurn who has been a great friend of Fermanagh Ladies Senior Team for arranging the loan of a set of Jersies from the Mens County Board, and the Board for loaning them to us, as the Ladies Senior Team are currently without a sponsor.   Fermanagh Squad.   Donna Gilroy,Tara Hughes,Kyla Mc Manus,Claire Woods,Donna Maguire,Patricia Melanaphy,Catherine Murphy, Adele Gallagher,Caroline Little,Aine Mc Brien,Shauna Hamilton,Sharon Little,Ashling Mc Caughey,Sharon Mc Govern, Ashling Moane,Sarah Stewart,Eimir Keenan,Roisin Carron,Imelda Mc Govern,Rachel O' Dolan,Aileen Moane,Mary Smith, Nuala Curran,Anita Newell,Edel Campbell,Louise Slevin,Shireene Greene,Roisin Gleeson,Emma Birns,Dympna Moane.       Full Time Cavan 0-12 Fermanagh 2-06
