Hotel Kilmore Senior Championship Denn v Killygarry- Thursday 11th June - Kingspan Breffni Park Denn 1-6 Killygarry 0-9 Denn's first outing of this year's Cavan Senior Football Championship finished all square with Killygarry as a late free from Martin Reilly saw the teams share the spoils. The game was a minute old when Killygarry's Stephen McGovern got the opening score, which was cancelled out in the same amount of time by Padraig McGovern down the other end. Stephen McGovern moved the Crubany men back in front with his second in three minutes and a well struck effort from 40 yards man Andy McGovern meant they were two clear. Denn searched for a goal in response and Tomas Corr was unlucky to see his effort come back off the underside of Patrick Galligan's crossbar and cleared to safety by the Killygarry defence. Stephen McGovern notched Killygarry further in front in the meantime with an accurate free, but last year's finalists weren't about to let their counterparts stretch too far ahead as Colin Kiernan and Corr both popped over points brought the difference back to the minimum. Killygarry looked to try and push their advantage, but dropped too many chances wide and it was the Crosskeys outfit that finished out the half strong with Colin Kiernan equalising and Ronan Kiernan putting them in front for the first time in the match. It looked as though it would stay that way heading towards the break, but three minutes into the added on time a dangerous run by Darren Costello towards goal saw the full-forward crash the ball off the Killygarry bar and this time Colin Kiernan was on hand to kick the ball to the net and send Denn in with a 1-5 to 0-4 advantage at the break. After sending two efforts wide early on in the resumption Martin Reilly sent a free over in the ninth minute, which was met by John Smith firing over moments later to keep the difference at four in Denn's favour. The next score wouldn't arrive again until the 48th minute through Killygarry's Andrew McGovern, followed by two '45s' from Martin Reilly to make it a one-point game heading towards injury-time. Both sides had their chances to win it from here on in, but it was Killygarry who levelled the game three minutes into the added on time via another free from Martin Reilly.
