Carlow ladies concede walkover
June 26, 2008
Carlow have handed Louth a walkover as they are unable to field a team for this weekend's Leinster junior ladies football championship semi-final.
This is a major set-back for the ladies game on the banks of the Barrow as the Carlow girls reached an All-Ireland semi-final in 2007 and only lost by a couple of points after extra time.
The team had good initial turn-outs for training this year but interest gradually waned and they were unable to compete in the last two rounds of the league.
Disappointed player Sinead Doyle notes: "The future of ladies football in Carlow is now very uncertain.
"As a Carlow player, I am extremely disappointed not to be able to put on a Carlow jersey and represent my county team in this year's championship."
