Pressure on hurlers to deliver
June 12, 2008
Carlow hurlers compete in their second final of the year when the face Meath in the Kehoe Cup decider and the Barrowsiders will be eager to make up for the League loss.
Jim Greene's charges disappointed against Westmeath in the Division Two League final, which was televised, live ahead of the Galway v. Tipperary clash.
Despite making strides at underage level, Carlow have threatened to do the same at senior without really making any ground and now their supporters are growing frustrated.
This final comes just a fortnight before the start of the Christy Ring Cup and although Sunday's match is not the most prestigious of competitions, success breeds confidence and that's what Greene will be looking for.
Meath were defeated in the league meeting between the sides earlier in the year and a similar result could well be the outcome again this weekend.
The match will be played as a curtainraiser to the Leinster SHC semi final between Kilkenny and Offaly and a large crowd will be present at Portlaoise.
