Tinryland receive invite to prestigious Kerry Tournament
February 01, 2012
Last years Carlow senior football finallists Tinryland have received an invitation to compete in the elite section of the 23rd Comortas Peile Paidi O Se which will take place in West Kerry on 25th and 26th February.
The prestigious 8 team tournament which will be launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Dublin on Tuesday 14th February will include 7 other club sides that are among the best in Ireland. Included in the line up are Carrickmore of Tyrone, Tuam Stars from Galway, Scotstown from Monaghan, Leixlip (Kildare), Castlebar Mitchells (Mayo) and An Gaeltacht and Dingle from Kerry. Tinryland will hope to have the strongest team possible travelling to Kerry for the event that will be covered by TV3 and will have the Sawdoctors as the main attraction at the event Banquet in Ventry on the Saturday evening. Depending on Tinryland's progress a training session with Kerry player Darragh O' Se is also part of the weekend programme.
To offset the cost to the players a number of fund raising events are planned in the coming weeks.
The senior team commenced training for the event and the new season under coach Martin Murphy on Saturday last.
