Board raise ref concerns
August 05, 2010
The Carlow County Board are to sit down with their referees and discuss a number of concerns that have been brought to their attention in recent weeks.
County Board chairman Pat Deering wants to meet with the referees before the next round of championship matches on August 22nd as he feels there are a number of inconsistencies creeping into the game.
"There would be inconsistencies in some regards, for example a player could get a yellow card or two yellow cards or a red card for an incident, and in a similar type of incident in another game, the referee might not take any action at all," said Deering.
"It's been noticeable in a number of football championship matches in particular. Some referees are slower to report these incidents, shall we say. We just want to have everyone on the same wavelength and with that in mind we're organising a meeting of the referees to brief them of the situation."
