Eire Og captured this year's Carlow Senior Football League Division One trophy by defeating a stubborn O'Hanrahan's outfit last Monday night at Dr Cullen Park by 2-8 to 0-9. In the end two goals in quick succession from Andy Byrne and Simon Rea from the penalty spot proved the difference here, as O'Hanrahan's failed to catch up with their opponents' interval. The winners went in 2-2 to 0-5 up at the break, before Rea stretched their lead with a free which was met with Mark Carpenter setting up Alan Quigley for a point down the other end. O'Hanrahan's managed to get the deficit down the three points on two occasions during the second period, but when Rea completed his 1-5 tally for the day Eire Og were safely over the line. Tweet
