The Wexford camogie board have launched an objection over the result of their All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Galway last Saturday.

The Irish Independent reports that the Model County will contest the 1-14 to 2-10 result on two counts, with their first contention being that the referee did not consult the umpires for a Kate Kelly 45, which they claim video evidence shows should have been a point. Under rule 41.5 a referee can't overrule the decision of both umpires.

The second contention is on the basis that the ref played two-and-a-half minutes more injury-time than the four minutes allowed for.

The official objection was submitted last night and Wexford are hopeful that it will be heard by the end of the week.

Galway won the game with a Niamh McGrath 45 six-and-a-half minutes into injury-time and the Slayneysiders also believe that there is video evidence to support their claim that a 45 which the umpires awarded was wrongly ruled wide by the referee, which falls under rule 41.5, and that the wrong amount of time was played (rule 41.6).
