September 17, 2008
London Junior League Camogie Green Isle 1 - 5 Croydon 0 - 2  In a surprisingly hot day for September Green Isle and Croydon battled out a match that had been postponed once before the Summer break and both teams were anxious to register a win to progress in London Junior Camogie League in a South London derby.   Green Isle were first on the score sheet with a hand passed point from Claire Hedderman, this was later followed by a point from play for Croydon taken by Brid Halloran. A hard fought game ensued and Green Isle's Eileen O'Boyle picked up a point from mid field before going in a half time 0- 2 ñ 0-1   Both teams were focused going into the second half, the home side seemed to settle quickly. Louise Landers attracted a lot of attention from the Croydon backs, Brid Hoare and Claire Curtin, however she found enough space to take a point from play. Soon after Eileen O'Boyle converted a 45 taking the score to 0 4 to 0 1.   The visitors found their feet in midfield, and showed tremendous skill from Melanie Hoare and Rita O'Mahoney winning the ball for the Croydon forwards, resulting in a point for Croydon. Repeated efforts to convert goals for Croydon were thwarted by  Laura Mythen and man of the match performance for Anna Cullen in goals for Green Isle.    The final spell of the second half, was enjoyed most by home side Green Isle. Breda Connolly, coming on for Jackie Foley kept Croydon keeper Mary MacArthur under fierce pressure and came away with a point. The goal did eventually come for Green Isle with full forward Claire Hedderman flicking on a low ball, bringing the final tally to 1 ñ 5 to 0 - 2.
