Armagh star laughs off Twitter "impostor"

Armagh's Ciaran McKeever
Armagh defensive stalwart Ciaran McKeever has laughed off an impostor on the popular social networking site Twitter.
Several prominent GAA stars have taken to the micro-blogging service in recent times, led by All-Ireland winning Kerry captain Darran O'Sullivan, former Kingdom great Eamonn Fitzmaurice, Roscommon star Donie Shine and Mayo forward Aidan O'Shea.
However, an account which purported to be that of McKeever, the sturdy centre half back who has represented Ireland in International Rules, has now been identified as bogus.
McKeever said, "I got introduced to that over Christmas. Someone goes to me, 'You have a Twitter page up'.
"I barely know how to switch on a computer, so I doubt that's me. Let him have his fun, whoever he is."
Twitter, which has risen to become a global phenomenon since its launch in 2006, has seen several high-profile hoax accounts, including Cheryl Cole, the Dalai Lama and Osama bin Laden.
Just this week, the Daily Telegraph newspaper in the UK was forced to apologise to former Republic of Ireland soccer player Andy Townsend for reporting a tweet as news - the tweet having come from a fake account.
