O'Connor new hurling development administrator

As predicted two week's ago, former Wexford great George O'Connor has been appointed as the first hurling development administrator for the county. The All-Ireland medal holder from 1996 has been handed a three-year term and will begin his work in September. George will operate from an office in Wexford Park. Funding for the project will come from the Irish Sports Council via the Leinster Council and supported by the county boards. O'Connor will have the job of liasing with schools both primary and secondary as well as implementing the development plan for hurling in the county which has been drawn up by former manager John Conran, fitness and athletics coach Jim Kilty, county secretary Mick Kinsella and John Barron from Glynn Barntown. They will also serve as the steering committee for the overall project and will be assisted by Pat Henderson from Kilkenny, Leinster Council's appointee as chairman and Fr Odran Furlong as Secretary.
