Greatest Wexford hurling team named

January 11, 2002
After many hours and days of deliberation, the judges chosen by the Wexford People finally chosen the greatest ever Wexford side, settling on an invincible-looking XV, the strength of which is underlined by the names omitted: Larry O'Gorman, Liam Dunne, Phil Wilson, Mick Jacob and the great 'Hopper' McGrath to name just a handful. The selection committee was Fr Lory Kehoe, Tony Dempsey, Phil Murphy, Liam Griffin and Martin Doyle. And the team that nobody'd ever like to come up against reads: Damien Fitzhenry (Duffry Rovers); Bobby Rackard (Rathnure), Nick O'Donnell (St Aidan's), Tom Neville (Geraldine O'Hanrahans); Jim English (Rathnure), Billy Rackard (Rathnure), Jim Morrissey (St Aidan's); George O'Connor (St Martin's) and Ned Wheeler (Faythe Harriers); Martin Storey (Oulart-The Ballagh), Padge Kehoe (St Aidan's), Martin Quigley (Rathnure); Tony Doran (Buffers Alley), Nicky Rackard (Rathnure), Tim Flood (Cloughbawn).
