After a disappointing HL Division 1B campaign, Jack Guiney and his Wexford team-mates have turned their attention to the upcoming Leinster SHC campaign.

The Model County are waiting to see who finishes as runners-up in the round-robin series. most likely Antrim or Laois.

Speaking to The Irish Independent, the talented young forward insisted they won't be taking anyone for granted going into the summer.

Recent experience in the league has taught them valuable lessons he pointed out.

"Waterford probably caught us by surprise; we didn't expect them to be as good as they were.

"We have a habit of presuming sometimes and we have no right to presume that we're going to be there.

"Laois put it up to us for long parts of the game when we played them in the league and we were lucky to get out of the Antrim game with a win - we only beat them by a point. So we have no right to presume. We have to focus on the first game."

Last year they claimed the championship scalps of Waterford and All-Ireland champions Clare but making amends for the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Limerick is their primary motivation in the months ahead.

"I don't think there's a pressure. A lot of Wexford people probably went to matches last year that hadn't been to matches in a number of years.

"It probably showed that we were still a team in development when we went down to Limerick by such a large margin.

"We don't want to be known as a flash in the pan. I think we have the players."
