Wexford SFC final: Fogarty wins it for St. Anne's

November 16, 2014

Former Wexford star David Fogarty kicked the winner for St Annes. INPHO

St. Anne's 1-6
Gusserane 0-8

David Fogarty's injury-time point handed St. Anne's a dramatic victory over Gusserane in theWexford SFC final at Wexford Park.

Beaten in the Wexford SHC final after a replay by Shelmaliers a few weeks ago, St. Anne's dug deep to win a low-scoring contest and avoid double disappointment. Due to the late staging of the final, they won't have the opportunity to represent Wexford in the Leinster club SFC, which has reached the last four stage.

Gusserane led by 0-3 to 0-2 at half-time and doubled their lead early in the second half through Cillian Kehoe. But points from Sean Gaul and Fogarty tied up the scoring at 0-4 apiece before Gaul scored the game's only goal in the 38th minute after being set up by David 'Doc' O'Connor.

The losers fought back to level with four minutes remaining and a replay looked to be on the cards until Fogarty kicked the winner in the third minute of stoppage-time.
