Wexford Grant snub to be discussed

July 16, 2014
The Wexford county board has scheduled a special meeting to discuss the fall out from not receiving any funding from the Sports Capital Programme.

Wexford expected to receive the funding from the annual Government grants that are handed out to sporting organisations all over the country.

A number of clubs including GAA outfits in Wexford did receive substantial amounts. However, the Wexford county board had sought funding for the future development of their centre of excellence at Ferns, but did not get anything in return.

The reason the county board were given for not been included in the grants was that their application was invalid.

Now the county board are set to meet with the clubs and discuss the matter as the loss of the funding will leave them in financial difficulties.
