Wexford chairman "delighted" with land sale
April 30, 2013
Wexford GAA has netted €405,000 by selling 26 acres of land.
The parcel of land adjoins the Wexford GAA Centre of Excellence at Ferns, where the County Board still owns a further 50 acres. Work has commenced on the Centre of Excellence in recent weeks and the monies generated from the land sale comes as a massive fillip to the Model County:
"I am delighted with the sale and the price achieved," chairman Diarmuid Devereux tells The Irish Examiner.
"There was great interest shown at the auction with a number of bidders. We realised more than €15,000 per acre which was tremendous.
"We are now in a position to clear the remaining €250,000 left on Wexford Park, while also dealing with the hangover from the Glenbrien land sale loss.
"This will also leave us with a surplus to deal with other financial matters. It will considerably ease the county's finances but there will be no letting up as there is still much to address."
