Exciting times for underage hurling

May 10, 2012
Underage hurling in Wexford is on a real high at the moment.

The county minors restored pride in the Purple & Gold with last weekend's thrilling 0-22 to 1-17 victory over Dublin in the Leinster MHC after extra time at Parnell Park - this without inspirational centre back Andrew Kenny.

The victory suggests that the future is bright for the Slaneysiders but was not the only eye-catching result from the weekend...

On Friday night, a Good Counsel College (New Ross) combination recorded a spectacular 3-8 to 2-9 victory over none other than St Kieran's, Kilkenny in the Leinster U14 hurling 'A' final at Thomastown.

Declan Wall's team had lost heavily to the same opposition in the league so this was a truly remarkable win, which offers great hope for the future of the ancient game in the Model County.
