'Only a matter of time' - says Fitzhenry

Wexford keeper Damien Fitzhenry
Long-serving Wexford 'keeper Damien Fitzhenry is convinced that it is "only a matter of time" before the Model County joins hurling's top table again.

The 35 year old said that he is convinced his native county can get themselves back amongst the contenders for the Liam McCarthy Cup.

"We won it in '96 when I was only a young lad," Fitzhenry commented in the Star. "It was our first since 1968 and I didn't think it would be as long again.

"It's 14 years now since we reached that pinnacle. It will take a lot to get back there again with the teams that are out there.
"I have been talking to a lot of the lads and they have been training strong.

"It's only a matter of time before the tide turns. It's only unfortunate that I won't be there."
