Fitzhenry calls time

Wexford's All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry has announced his retirement from intercounty hurling after 18-years service.

The Duffry Rovers club man, who was the last playing member of the 1996 All-Ireland winning side still in action last season, commenced his hurling career in the purple and gold jersey in 1993.

The holder of one All-Ireland senior medal and three Leinster medals (1996, 1997 and 2004), the 35-year-old won two All-Star Awards (1997 and 2004)
