Minors face tough challenge

July 03, 2009
Wexford minor hurling manager Paul Dempsey acknowledges the fact that his charges will be massive underdogs against defending Leinster champions Kilkenny on Sunday. Following their 12-point win over Laois in the semi final last week, Wexford have been planning for the provincial decider against Leinster and All-Ireland champions Kilkenny. Dempsey has his homework done on the Cats and although he admits that they are a strong side, he feels that they have their weaknesses too. "I know a lot about Kilkenny," said Dempsey. "They have quality players through the team. Like all Kilkenny sides they will be skilful, and hungry for victory, which never abates with them. "They set the standard but hopefully we can get up that standard and take on the challenge. We have a hard-working and good squad. They have put in the effort at training. We will be telling them to go out and enjoy the occasion, give us 100% and hopefully with a few breaks going our way we can get over the line."
