Mattie Forde on his way to another score for Wexford
Wexford sharpshooter Matty Forde is resigned to missing the rest of the season due to a back injury. The former All-Star has been sidelined since undergoing surgery on a spine complaint at the end of May, which forced him to miss Wexford's Leinster SFC quarter-final loss to Kildare. He will also miss Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier against Offaly in Wexford Park - a fixture he scored 2-10 in five years ago. "I went back to the surgeon recently and he told me that it would be a minimum of two months before I could think of playing a match again," he explained. "So it looks as if it will be late August or early September before I will be able to play again for Wexford." The Kilanerin clubman is hoping Wexford came turn around what has been a dreadful season so far with a win against the Faithful County. "If we got just one win under our belt, it would do a lot to lift the doom and gloom surrounding the team. "At the moment, the lads are lacking a bit of confidence, but a good result would work wonders."
