Home comfort for Model men

June 26, 2009
At least Wexford have received home draws in both the football and hurling Qualifiers. The footballers entertain Offaly at 2.30pm on Saturday July 4 and Jason Ryan's men will be favourites to progress, even though they've had a miserable year so far. In the hurling, home advantage could also provide the Slaneysiders with the edge when they square up to Limerick on July 11. This is the first championship meeting of these two counties since the dramatic 2001 quarter-final, which Wexford won by 4-10 to 2-15. It has been a very disappointing year for both the footballers and hurlers thus far, but the double home draw at least provides some cause for optimism.
