Shelmalier Club notes
June 17, 2009
Our U12 footballers played their second championship game recently against the Starlights in Bellfield. For the first twenty minutes or so there was very little in it with the Enniscorthy side leading by 3 points on a scoreline of 1-04 to 1-01 with our goal coming from Craig Parker. The Starlights then scored 4 points without reply but a goal from Liam Rochett just before half time left only 4 points in it at half time 1- 08 to 2 -01.
The back line were very impressive in the first half most notably Enda Cloake, Johnny Walker and Peter Doyle.
The first ten minutes of the second half were very even, the home team then scored a couple of quick goals to open up a big gap but our boys heads never went down and with some great play from Joe Redmond, Craig Parker and Dan Campbell we pulled back a couple of scores. We then made a few changes and Kevin Harte and Stephen Rossiter were very impressive when introduced. Jody Donohoe & Stephen Rossiter finished the scoring for us with a goal each which left a full time score of Starlights 5-11 Shels 4-06.

Congratulations to Brian Malone, Oldtown who started on the Wexford senior team that played Kildare last Saturday and also to Ciaran O'Shaughnessy, Garrylough who started the Wexford U21 hurling team that met Dublin recently. Unfortunately both teams lost but the Shels men gave great performances on the night, and did the club proud.
