Volunteers Club Notes
November 24, 2008
The Junior hurlers withstood a second surge from Adamstown to book their
place in the Junior D hurling final. The Johns deservedly secured their
final berth, largely due to a disciplined performance which saw them win
0-15 to 2-07. The John's started brightest with Danny O'Sullivan's accuracy
from placed balls helping them to 0-9 to 0-3 half time lead. Little
seperated the sides on the resumption of play, but about mid way through the
half the New Ross outfit found the back of the net and drew themselves to
within two points (1-07 to 0-12) The Johns responded bravely and registered
the next two points to give them some measure of comfort, now leading 0-14
to 1-07. Dramactically Adamstown again found the net to ensure a nervy
finish. However, the final score of the game went to the Wexford district
side ensuring a famous victory. They will now face Enniscorthy side,
Shamrocks in the decider.
