Buffer's Alley win appeal

September 26, 2008
Buffer's Alley have been reinstated to the Wexford under 21 hurling championship following a successful appeal to Leinster Council. The famed club's recent under 21 game against St. Martin's was abandoned with 10 minutes remaining after a mass brawl involving players, officials and supporters broke out. The Wexford CCC ruled that both clubs should be suspended from the under 21 championship and had also proposed fines of EUR3,000 for both, which was subsequently halved by the Wexford Hearings Committee. Leinster Council have now upheld Buffer's Alley's appeal which means they are free to resume action in the second round of the local under 21 championship, while their fine has also been lifted. But St. Martin's, who also went to the provincial body, had their appeal rejected.
