Late Paddy Kehoe had long ties with the GAA
September 26, 2008
The late Paddy Kehoe, the man from 1 Sean Browne Crescent and formerly of Moran Park will be sadly missed by his friends in Enniscorthy following his death in Wexford General Hospital on Thursday of last week.
His family have roots in the historic Duffry area of the town that include strong links with the local Starlights' Gaelic Football Club, with Paddy's grandfather Tim the goalkeeper in the club's first ever season around about 1917. Lore at the club recall a famous incident when Tim was well and truly beaten for a goal against Pallas and with the ball trickling over the goal-line, his young son Mick rushed to the father's defence and cleared the lines only to spark off a big row.
Paddy was a popular figure around the town and was particularly associated with the social scene at Bellefield GAA Centre. Having worked for many years in the old Chivers fruit depot he later operated as a self-employed person doing chimney sweep and painting and decorating. He was also a noted guitarist. His two brothers and six sisters survive him.
