Duffry lose out agonisingly on points difference

September 26, 2008
St Martins made it safely to the quarter-finals of the Wexford senior hurling championship thanks to a six points victory over Duffry Rovers in an enjoyable game played in Wexford Park on Saturday afternoon last. The Duffry side agonisingly lost out on advancement purely on score-difference. The Enniscorthy District side put in a great effort in attempting to progress but unfortunately their late rally left them just short of the required points difference to make it through to the 'A' quarter-finals. Their cause was not helped by the 41st minute dismissal of centre-forward JJ Doyle for a pull on James McDonald. A feature of the St. Martin's performance was the sharing out of the score tally with substitute Ruairi Quigley getting the goal.
