Wexford guards miss their Wicklow colleagues

September 26, 2008
Little did the Garda bosses in Phoenix Park realise when recently revamping the divisional areas within the force that their actions would have a detrimental affect for some teams in the Garda football championship but so it seemed recently when Wexford had difficulty in providing a full compliment of players for the Leinster championship fixture against Carlow-Kildare. Up to this Wexford would have played with divisional colleagues Wicklow but upon the reorganisation the loss of the Wicklow men was sorely felt and the purple and gold men could only muster 14/15th of a team. Their counterparts agreed sportingly to play the first half with fourteen also and then reverted to the full compliment after the break as they were entitled. Carlow-Kildare won the tie on a score-line of 4-13 to 5-4 with two-goal Jason Seward ending up on the defeated side.
