Senior Hurling
The senior hurling team qualified for the quarter-finals of the hurling championship by beating a determined Marshalstown team on Saturday last in Bellfield.
After a first half of outstanding hurling the lead of 3-12 to 0-7 was truly merited. A second half saw a more determined Marshalstown side appear and pushed the Shels all the way, but a team fighting for themselves held out and due to the Martins defeating the Duffry by 6pts the Shels qualify for the quarter finals in two weeks time. Leaders were all over the pitch none more so than up the centre: Aidan Murphy, David Walsh, David Cloney, Alan Griffith and Stephen Banville, but overall it was a huge team effort from players and subs alike. Final score Shelmaliers 3-16 Marshalstown 2-14.

U14
The Shelmalier Under 14 hurlers continued their recent good form in the 'Over the Water' hurling league when overcoming Taghmon under the magnificent new floodlights in Taghmon on Friday night 12th Sept, having over come both Glynn/Barntown and the Faythe Harries in recent weeks. Even though it was the first time that these players had played hurling under lights they quickly adapted to the conditions and following some good team play, the Shels held strong to win by a two point margin.
The Shelmaliers would like to sincerely thank Taghmon GAA club for their kind invitation to play under their magnificent floodlights and all weather pitch and the visiting players and spectators were certainly in awe of such facilities particularly as the winter months approach.
The Finals of the Over the Water U12 and U14 Hurling leagues will take place in Hollymount next Sunday 28th Sept @ 10.00 AM.
