Glynn-Barntown almost get caught at the mist

September 19, 2008
Glynn-Barntown gave their chances of reaching the 'A' quarter-finals no harm with a good win over Rapparee on Sunday last in New Ross in the county senior championship second round but despite dominating the game, the Killurin men finished the game somewhat anxiously. This was not a great game of hurling and it was played in poor weather conditions and had the winners been somewhat more clinical in their approach, the game would surely have been over as a contest earlier than it was. Glynn had scored their two goals in the first twenty minutes but failed to adequately hammer home the advantage up to half-time. An awkward collision with Paul Carley resulted in Declan 'Skippy' Ruth being stretchered off and this was a big blow to the Raps. Paul with five points was the chief scorer with the goals coming from Brendan Doyle and Alan Cowman.
