Kilanerin best in tight game

September 12, 2008
There were neither goals nor Matty Forde in Saturdays' Wexford Senior Football Championship clash between Kilanerin and Adamstown in a game marked by tight defending and a low score. Forde is still nursing injury having had to be substituted in the gallant effort of the county footballers against Tyrone in the All-Ireland semi final recently. The Conan Daye managed side proved too strong for a disappointing Adamstown in a game won by three points, 0-10 to 0-7. The match was somewhat of a dour struggle with defenders proving in control for most of the hour. Adamstown did seek goals early on in the game but the Wicklow border side's defending was too strong. John Hegarty with five points was Kilanerin's leading scorer and his reliability with placed balls was a big factor in this win. Victory was secured in the last ten minutes when the winners outscored their opponents by three points to one.
