Wexford's ace marksman Mattie Forde
Wexford fans will be breathing a sigh of relief with the news that their star forward Mattie Forde will be able to resume playing football in another month.
The fears were that the Kelanerin clubman was to face a lengthily spell on the sidelines with the ankle injury he picked up in last month's All-Ireland SFC semi-final defeat to Tyrone, but he know aims to make a return to training around mid-October.
The new will be welcome for Model fans as it should see their key attacker fully fit and ready for next year's NFL campaign in Division Two as they prepare for a crucial championship next season after reaching the last four this year.
"There is a lot of bruising around the bone near my heel, and the rate of progress has been slower over the last few days than it was earlier on," said Forde.
"But still I am delighted that the injury is not as serious as we originally thought it was."
