Two second-half goals from Fionn Murray helped Dublin minors to victory in Enniscorthy

Robbie Bolger and Fionn Murray were on song as Dublin inflicted a 3-12 to 1-10 defeat on Wexford in Enniscorthy.

Jim Lehane’s lads played most of the game with 14 men, having had Ryan O’Dwyer sent off in the twelfth minute, but goals from Bolger and Murray (2) handed them their second straight win of the campaign as they moved to the top of Group Two, with a trip to Offaly awaiting in the last round next week.

A brace of Murray frees got the quarter-final-bound winners off to a tidy start and Bolger added their third point, Dara Fagan and Bolger making it 0-5 to no score after 20 minutes, despite O’Dwyer’s dismissal eight minutes earlier.

The Model County closed within two but Bolger danced through their defence to plant the game’s opening goal two minutes from the break, points from Murray and Sean Kinsella ensuring the visitors, who beat Meath in their opener a fortnight ago, of a comfortable 1-7 to 0-3 interval lead.

Murray netted twice in as many minutes upon the restart to put the game out of Wexford’s reach, 3-7 to 0-4. To their credit, the Slaneysiders – who lost to Offaly in the first round and are away to Meath next Wednesday - never gave up and they managed to trim their deficit by four points before the final whistle sounded.
