St Marys Rochfortbridge club notes

August 17, 2015

Intermediate championship,
st.marys travelled to rosemount to take on moate in this game. The game started well with both sides showing great potental. Moate started to get into the game quicker than us and got some well worked goals to there credit for the hard work but our lads really worked hard and really gave a good account of themselves but it was the goals that killed us and we just couldnt claw back that early lead of moate,We will keep fighting to the bitter end of this championship and with such a young panel its time for everyone to keep with the lads in our building proccess and keep going forward, final score moate 5 -12 - st.marys 2-09.naomh mhuire abu.............Behind ye all the way lads

u 14 championship
St.Marys entertained shannon gaels (t/c) in rochfortbridge last week,St.Marys were slow to start and let the away side take control but credit our lads they fought well to keep in touch and missing a few big players to holidays,We seen some great play from both sides at times and we seen some mistakes too .This was a close game in the league and we expected nothing less today. The second half was much the same with the game hanging in the balance and it was shannon gaels that took the points.

Our festival weekend Kicked off last saturday morning with a 30 k and an 80 k cycle. This was a huge success with almost 70 cyclists taking part. That same morning our juvenille club took to the roads with a bed push to mullingar and back,we achieved our goal to get to mullingar and return by 3pm.Thanks to the parents and players and stewards of both of these,ye were all imense.
On sunday our main event was our field day and  we had our main event cow in the park which was a great finish to our day with the cow leaving us to wait over an hour to go.We had live pig racing which was a great attraction for young and old, people came from far and wide to see this and the crack was great, our kids had the famous bubble football, the bumble play bus,tug of war,The mouse game and pets by adrian brereton and penalty shoot outs and wellie throwing and the famous climimg wall from liliput sports,Face painting and stalls and turf stacking which dan conner from daingain was the proud winner. And not to forget mr whizz. There was a funfilled day for young and old and the good comments coming were brilliant to hear and this was a huge under taking from the club and we needed outside help from friends and other community helpers and organisations.Ye know who ye are and thank you so much.we had great music from from sean gallagher and liam bagnall. This was a pure success with our bellies being filled by over 500 burgers on the bbq. This has been a huge undertaking by the commitees and club but a huge success,we had people who really gave 100 percent to the  whole event.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thanks to our players also for there help.
