Westmeath's Kieran Martin's mantra of creating your own luck certainly came through last Sunday.
Martin gave a man of the match performance as Westmeath defeated Meath for the first time ever in a championship match.
The Maryland clubman scored 2-03 from play and led the charge as the Lake County came from ten points down at one stage to record a famous victory.
"The harder you work, the more luck you get," Martin told the Westmeath Examiner. "It was a great victory but to win it in that way even makes the day a lot better.
"We knew we just needed to get to half time to regroup. Lads were starting to panic and do their own thing. But once we got in at half time and settled down, we knew that, if we got a few points back at the start, we are a second half team and could push on from there."
