Multyfarnham GAA Notes

New Forest JFC Sect A
Multyfarnham v St.Josephs

Multyfarnham took on St. Josephs in the first round of the Junior Championship on Saturday last in Cusack Park. Weather wise it was great night for football with mostly clear skies for the game and only the odd bit of drizzle which barely affected the efforts on the field.
St. Josephs put up a strong challenge and did well to disrupt the play, making it difficult for the Multy forwards to settle in front of goal. Indeed the first scores, for Multy, came from wingback Ger Feerick and midfielder Enda Carter. Eventually the forward line found their range and Keith Reid opened the accounts. Kim Williams and Anthony McGivney combined well to set up the latter for the opening goal while David Wallace and Mark Fallon started to look threatening.
Josephs however refused to go away and kept battling to add scores which kept them within a shout of Multy. Brian McLoughlin and Leo Blake had their hands full at the back steadying the ship.
The second half took a while to get going and only the introduction of the subs, off the bench turned the game largely in the favour of Multy. Adam Loughrey and Emmet Feerick added impetus to the forward line while Jimmy Keary settled things at the back which proved to be beyond the Streamstown club. Anthony McGivney played very well and it was his second goal which finally put Joeys valiant effort to bed.
The next game is round two of the Championship, Saturday vs St. Pauls at 6pm in The Downs.

Underage Football
U8

Well done to our u6's and our u8's who participated in a blitz last Friday in Delvin. Multyfarnham played both Miltownpass and Delvin. It was great to see so much enthusiasm for football at a young age throughout the day.

U12

Well done to our u12 team who had a great win last Tuesday night against Ballycomoyle on a scoreline of 5:16 to 4:07. The Multyfarnham lads put in a tremendous effort to earn a great win. The win could not have been got without the hard work from our solid full back Adam Ledwith while Shane Whyte and Donal Hannon worked extremely hard from start to finish making it very hard for the Ballycomoyle forwards. Multyfarnham got off to a great start with Jack Butler and Cathal Bawle winning great ball to create scores for the impressive Lorcan O Mara and Cian Lee who continued to be a driving force for the Multyfarnham team. Scott Murray and Daniel McCormack were constantly making things difficult for Ballycomoyle while Michael Davitt and James Lawlor worked tremendously hard from starting to finish giving great ball to Gareth Mullaniff who helped to keep the scoreboard ticking over. The game was far from over when Ronan Greene and Ian Lawlor kicked some vital scores which came from the combination of hard work and accurate kick passing by James Ledwith and Ben Mulligan. Ballycomoyle were looking for a comeback but Paddy Wallace Jnr made fantastic scores to prevent them from going home with a win. This was a great win for the Multyfarnham lads and their trainer David Mullaniff. It was great to see many people supporting the lads and particularly Paul Hannon who helped out for the game and Gerry Whyte and Gerry Ledwith who were motivating the lads from the sideline.

Team: Patrick Wallace Jnr, Shane Whyte, Adam Ledwith, Donal Hannon, Scott Murray, Jack Butler, Lorcan O Mara, Cian Lee, Cathal Bawle, Michael Davitt, Daniel McCormack, James Lawlor, Ben Mulligan, Ronan Greene, Ian Lawlor, Gareth Mullaniff, James Ledwith.

U16's

On Thursday last, our u16's recorded a great win against Miltownpass on a scoreline of 8:12 to 3:5. Well done lads.
