Lennon expects tough model test

Westmeath minor manager Aidan Lennon believes that Wexford will pose them a serious threat in Saturday's Leinster MFC opener at Innovate Wexford Park.

The Midlanders make the long journey to the sunny south east this weekend, knowing very little about their opponents.

Wexford did play in the Leinster League, but they had to plan without their Good Counsel Colleges' contingent for the majority of that campaign.

And Lennon admitted to the Westmeath Independent that he was expecting a tough challenge from the Slayneysiders this weekend.

"Wexford are always tough opponents, especially in their own ground, so we certainly expect a very hard game," said Lennon.

"Even when I was playing, Wexford would always be big and strong and physical, and I suspect that's what we will encounter on Saturday. They will be the favourites, there's no getting away from that, and I've no doubt that they will be buoyed by Good Counsel recently reaching the All-Ireland schools semi-finals. There's always good players in Wexford and we will have to play very well to get a result."
