Ryan not looking back

Westmeath manager Michael Ryan is adamant that their recent facile win over Kerry will have no bearing on the NHL Division 2A decider.

The sides meet in the final on Saturday week after Westmeath recorded a narrow in over Carlow in their last match, with the winners facing the losers of the Division 1B relegation play-off between Antrim and Laois.

The Midlanders travelled to Tralee just a couple of weeks ago where they recorded a comfortable victory over the home side.

Nonetheless, Ryan stressed to the Westmeath Examiner that result will count for nothing when the sides meet again.

"We have to get mentally and physically ready for what is a big challenge. Hopefully, Eoin Price and Niall Dowdall will be fit for the final," said Ryan.

"In the recent match in Tralee, Kerry had a man sent off at a crucial stage. That game will have absolutely no bearing on the final on Saturday week. It's a huge game now. We'll prepare properly, but we know on the day we'll have to perform to win the game."
