Multyfarnham GAA Notes

March 23, 2015

ACFL Division 4

Ballinagore 2-12
Multyfarnham 2-10

Referee: Kenneth Gunning
Venue: Páirc an Bhodhráin, Ballinagore

Last Sunday the Junior team played Ballinagore away from home on a beautiful morning for football. A good crowd had gathered to watch a hugely intensive, highly entertaining game which saw Ballinagore emerge as winners. There has not been much separating these two teams in the previous few years and both set about each other with a will to put any conclusions beyond a doubt. Daniel Loughrey and Emmet Feerick were on good form for Multy while McDaniels in the Ballinagore forward line was also seeing plenty of ball. Multy built up a decent lead after Noel Kiernan smashed home a penalty and further points from Feerick and Loughrey compounded it. But a lack of focus and fitness allowed Ballinagore back into it and there was only the minimum separating them at half time.
To their credit Ballinagore really came into it more in the second half but it was until the last few moments that they managed to grab the lead away from Multy. A missed penalty was followed up shortly by a well struck goal that gave the home the team a good four point lead. Adam Loughrey found the back of the net moments later from a speculative long range effort that dipped under the bar and over the head of the home goal keeper. But it was not to be for Multy.
David Wallace, Brian Mcloughlin, Anthony McGivney and Noel Kiernan battled hard all day long but Ballinagore were definitively the fitter team and a more cohesive unit.
Training continues.
