The County Board's proposal to amalgamate a number of clubs at underage level has been put on hold.

A committee was set up to review the underage structure within the county and they came back with the proposal that the majority of clubs should amalgamate at underage level.

However, a number of clubs who feel that they can field on their own were totally against this and county board chairman Sean Sheridan urged clubs to consider the motion.

"We will take no vote tonight," Sheridan said at last week's county board meeting. "However, we have a responsibility to ensure that our young people get a chance to play our games."
